Tanasi Girl Scout Council

Smoky Shadows Service Unit is part of Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council. Tanasi Girl Scout Council serves a sixteen (16) county area including: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Clairborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblem, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, and Union Counties

Facts About Tanasi Council

Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council was formed in 1958 when the Knox County and Blount County councils merged. Prior to this date Girl Scouts have been in East Tennessee since the early 1920's. We are currently in process of merging with the Appalachian Council and Moccasin Bend Council. We have undergone several changes as additional councils and counties have developed. Tanasi is pronounced Tah-nah'-see. It is a local Native American word for Tennessee, the land of smoke.
